Why the X Pole XPERT is the Best

All of X Pole’s poles are a very high quality piece of apparatus, but let’s find out why the X Pole XPERT, specifically, is the best dance pole for beginners.

Type of Pole

As a beginner, you’ll want a removable pole that’s easy to put up, take down and store away. Buying a permanent pole fixture for your house so soon after starting a new hobby is quite a commitment!

The best dance pole for beginners will be removable, but have the option to add permanent fixtures in the future, if that’s something you might consider in the long-term.

The X Pole XPERT offers you just that. If you ever decide to make your pole a permanent fixture of your home, you can buy a ceiling mount. X Pole also sells speciality mounts for vaulted ceilings, etc.

Pole Width

The standard width of pole is 45mm. It’s also common to find 50mm poles in studios and clubs around the world. More recently, 40mm poles are becoming popular – you can even get poles as slim as 38mm! That’s like a broom handle!

But, which is right for you?

45mm is a god pole width for both beginners and professionals. If you have particularly small hands, you may want a 40mm pole. For larger hands, or you’ve started learning on a 50mm pole then you may want to choose a 50mm for those reasons.

Whichever you choose, make sure it’s the right choice for you. If you’re able to, try out these different widths if you pole studio has different poles available. Ask your instructor about the different widths of poles too if you’re unsure.

The best dance pole for beginners is available in a variety of different widths including:

  • 40mm
  • 45mm
  • 50mm

Pole Material

Dance poles are available in a variety of different finishes. We’ve written a whole other article about this, so here is a brief summary of the different dance pole finishes available:

Chrome: very common around the world, inexpensive, hard-wearing for light-moderate use, easily becomes tarnished, quite slippery (especially in hot or humid climates).

Brass: fairly common but more expensive than Chrome, very hard-wearing for moderate-heavy use, excellent for hot and humid climates, a premium choice of material.

Stainless Steel: fairly common, not as expensive as brass, very hard-wearing for heavy use, works fairly well in all climates.

Powder/Silicone Coated: less common, specifically designed for performing Chinese pole-style acrobatic tricks, can be used wearing clothes and without grip aid

The best dance pole for you as a beginner will depend on your budget and where you live. If you have to go with Chrome for budget reasons, then there are plenty of grip products available if you find Chrome slippery (like me!)

Static or Spin?

Depending on your pole instructor, you might be learning to pole dance on a static pole, a spinning pole or a combination of both. This will influence what type of pole you want.

The good news is that a lot of dance poles for sale can be easily switched between static and spin without too much effort. So, that gives you the option to use the pole as a static dance pole or as a spinning one.

A dual static-spin pole is definitely the best choice for a beginner, due to the face that you have the option of practising using the pole in different ways.

This gives you variety to your workout; the techniques for using the dance pole in static an spin modes are slightly different.
